The 17th meeting of the CSTO Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation will be held in Yerevan
September 12 this year in Yerevan, the 17th session of the Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation (ICWEC) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will begin.
The meeting of the Commission will be chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the ICWEC Borisov Yuri Ivanovich.

The meeting participants will have to consider a wide range of issues on the implementation of decisions adopted by the ICWEC at a meeting in September last year in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), as well as regarding the implementation of the measures of the Military-Economic Cooperation Program of the CSTO member states adopted in May 2016.
The implementation of measures in the field of standardization of weapons and military equipment within the framework of the CSTO, the creation of a cataloging system for the supplies of the armed forces of the member states of the Organization, improving the quality of jointly developed and manufactured military products, mutual protection of intellectual property rights obtained and used in the course of military-economic cooperation of the CSTO member states also were discussed.
Based on the results of the upcoming discussion, it is planned to determine the tasks of the Commission for the coming year.
On the eve of the plenary meeting of the Commission, a meeting of the Working Group on issues of military-economic cooperation under the Chair of the ICWEC will be held in Yerevan on September 10 and 11 with the participation of experts from the CSTO member states to complete the coordination and preparation of documents submitted for consideration by the Commission.
The CSTO Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation was created by the Decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council of June 23, 2005.
One of the main functions of the Commission is to develop recommendations and make decisions aimed at ensuring multilateral military-economic (technical) cooperation in priority areas of cooperation. Among them are the development and implementation of long-term programs of military-economic (technical) cooperation, the preservation of specialization and cooperation in the production of military products, the creation of joint ventures (organizations) for the development, production, modernization, repair and disposal of military products, as well as joint research and development work on the development and modernization of military products, etc.
