Draft program of Armed Forces modernization under discussion

The final discussion of the seven-year program designed for the modernization of the Armed Forces kicked off at the Monte Melkonian Military School on January 4. The event was attended by the Defence Ministry, Armed Forces and Armed Forces and General Staff leaderships.

Under the cooperation and coordination of actions between the armed forces of the two Armenian republics, representatives of the Republic of Artsakh Defence Army's command staff also participated in the discussion.

In the future, experts will also be included in the program discussions. After final discussions and amendments, the modernization program will be submitted to Armenian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Serzh Sargsyan.

On October 24, 2017, while attending the inauguration of the National Research University’s new educational program, President Sargsyan instructed the defence minister to develop a seven-year program for the modernization of the army with a goal to increase the effectiveness of the Armed Forces governance as well as its training and combat readiness levels.
